What’s Been Going On
Haven’t had much time to post lately.
I have been extremely busy at work and the kids and family take all of my spare time.
“The Wire” from HBO
Since the television writer’s strike slowed down my TV watching, I began renting these DVD’s starting from the first season. Several friends and co-workers have been trying to get me to watch it, but I didn’t want to take the time to go back and get caught up.
This has to be one of the best TV series of all time and right up there with the Soprano’s in my mind. If you haven’t seen it, then you don’t know what your missing. What kept me interested in that it shows many of the give and take, politics, ego’s, and ambitious personalities that are involved in the running of a city. You think that the police just go out and fight crime where it occurs. Reality doesn’t work that way. It takes city government, the media, personal agenda’s and other things that dictate where law enforcement concentrates their efforts.
All of these factors are intertwined around a drug problem in the city. This is a must see for everyone and take the time to rent the first season from blockbuster and then you may have to rent the other seasons on-line.
Check this out from Wikipedia:
Each season of The Wire focuses on a different facet of the city of Baltimore. They are, in order: the drug trade, the port, the city bureaucracy, the school system, and the print news media. The large cast consists mainly of character actors who are little known for their other roles. Simon has said that despite its presentation as a crime drama, the show is “really about the American city, and about how we live together. It’s about how institutions have an effect on individuals, and how…whether you’re a cop, a longshoreman, a drug dealer, a politician, a judge [or] lawyer, you are ultimately compromised and must contend with whatever institution you’ve committed to.”[1]
Despite never seeing great commercial success or winning any major television awards,[2] The Wire has frequently been cited by critics as one of the greatest television series of all time.[3][4][5] The show is recognized for its realistic portrayal of urban life, artistic ambitions, and uncommonly deep exploration of sociological themes.
Well that’s enough for now. Gotta go.

The Latest Sex Offender Notification System: Offenderwatch.com
By now we have visited various websites and entered our zip codes to find out how close a registered sex offender lives to us, but usually that is just a snapshot in time. What if one moves tomorrow in your neighborhood and you don’t think to go back to that website for another six months? OffenderWatch.com is a service that notifies you by email any time a registered sex offender moves within one mile of your address. All you do is enter your address and within minutes you receive an email with your results. Of course you can manually look up your address but as busy as I am, I want to know as soon as someone moves close.
Offenders move an average of 4 times a year! Citizens want, and need, easy access to sex offender data so they can run neighborhood searches around their home and school. They want to stay updated with emails and postal mailings whenever there is a change around them.
The service is offered by a number of law enforcement agencies across the nation. To find one new you click hereand then search by state or just enter your email.
